Passport Block
Passport Block Overview:
The Stillman College General Education Core is designed to provide intellectual and aesthetic experiences to teach the fundamental qualities of critical thought, analytical acumen, and integrative thinking. These skills enable students to solve problems and to make intellectual and value assessments in complex environments and to value engagement with the challenging world environment which is rapidly changing. Crucial to these expereinces are the relationships that students build with their peers and their mentors in a supportive learning environment.
To earn a Passport at Stillman College, students must complete its Passport Block, earning a minimum grade of C in each course. Earning the Passport assures students that they will not have to repeat learning already achieved to meet lower-division general education requirements should they transfer to an institution participating in the Interstate Passport Network. Moreover, for students entering Stillman College with a Passport means that they will be able to move directly into their major course of study without repeating learning for which they have demonstrated proficiency in the identified learning outcomes shared by Stillman College General Education core courses. Some of the Passport Learning Outcomes are embedded in Stillman College courses in more than one knowledge and skill area, but they are specifically stressed in the course(s) listed in each area below.
