University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo

Hilo, Hawaii

UH Hilo offers an engaging atmosphere of learning where knowledge is created and shared, values and wisdom are preserved, and individuals can learn from one another in an inclusive community celebrating diverse ethnicities, cultures and perspectives. Learning at UH Hilo occurs not only in the classroom, but in the laboratory, in the field, in the studio, through performance and presentation, and in our everyday lives.  At UH Hilo, we find our inspiration in the unique community and environment that surround us.

We promote effective and innovative teaching methods that have a positive impact on student learning.  U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 college rankings named UH Hilo as the most ethnically diverse national university. With a student-centered focus encouraging exploration, discovery and a solid grounding in Hawai'i‘s sense of place, we feature the State’s only undergraduate physics and astronomy program with front row access to the world’s most sophisticated telescopes, geology programs offered at the base of an active volcano, and the Pacific Region’s flagship pharmacy program working to drive improvement of healthcare and pharmaceutical science in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
